5 Dangerous Ingredients in Cigarettes - Keep the Fire Burning

Knowledge is the key to everything and knowing how smoking affects each part of your body can aid you in making informed decisions. However, if by the time you finish reading this and you'd still want to smoke, its up to you. At least now you know the consequences of your actions.

There are around five main components present in cigarette residue.

The first is Arsenic, which was ironically a popular method of assassination. This poisonous metal was responsible for the deaths of many important figures in history like King George III of England and Napoleon.

Butane - One other component in cigarette residue is Butane, which is the odorous liquid used in lighter fluids. One would be surprised to know that Butane is not only used in lighting up sticks of cigarette, but it can be found within the cigarette as well. Inhaling Butane with each drag of a cigarette is very harmful to a person's respiratory system.

Another ingredient - which you wouldn't believe is actually inside cigarettes - is DDT. I'm sure you're wondering what pesticide like DDT is doing in every stick of cigarette. This erstwhile popular insecticide was banned by law in the 1970's after studies revealed the pesticide was responsible for many birth defects, was very harmful to mother earth, and was counterproductive to a person's health. It is ironic then that it was okay to place Butane in cigarettes so people could inhale these pesticides and not only fill their lungs with it, but exhale it into the air, where children and pregnant women might inhale it too.

Formaldehyde is one more ingredient found in each stick of cigarette. This is the same stuff used in embalming corpses in order to preserve a person's physical appearance so it won't wither, wrinkle up, and smell before and during the funeral. Though it is questionable if the effect is the same when formaldehyde is inhaled by people who are alive.

The last major component of cigarette is Toluene. This is a chemical that is frequently mixed with gasoline to make benzene. The same chemical is also used in making paint thinners. Toluene hinders the proper functioning of a person's central nervous system, which can result in a plethora of discomfort from minor ones like migraines and dizziness, to more serious ones like depression and fatigue.

The scary thing about it is these five are not the only components found in cigarettes. These are but a few of the things one inhales with each cigarette that is smoked. The sooner one decides to give up smoking cigarettes, the better. This is a difficult feat for some people and if it is not done properly, there is a big chance a person would just relapse back into smoking soon after quitting.

If I dare you to take a drag of some formaldehyde, I'm sure you wouldn't do it. If I handed over some DDT to you and challenged you to take a whiff of it, I'm sure you wouldn't listen to me. Why then do smokers do this daily and by their own free will, while at the same time having to pay for the right to take these into their bodies?

Now... I'm not here to judge or trying to force anyone to quit smoking cigarettes as I know I didn't and I am still. Yes, I did not quit smoking cigarettes but I have found the way to stop those bad chemicals flowing into my system. I haven't smoke the cigarettes for almost 8 months since I found my smokeless electric cigarettes. It's cool for me, I can still smoke and not getting the same bad effects that regular smokers get.

What's the difference, I hear you say... Well, the difference is that e-cigarettes doesn't give you the same harmful chemicals that you are getting from regular cigarettes. It's a new way of smoking and enjoying the nicotine fix without having people around you going crazy off secondhand smoke.

No tar or carbon monoxide - No all these cancer causing chemicals - I hate cancer and I think it is nasty.

No second hand smoke - the number 1 biggest reason for you to stop smoking is because you are killing other people. However, do you think they should ban all cars in all the big cities in the world because pollution is killing people's air? Not anytime soon in the near future, but since I'm done with the regular burning cigarettes, I don't have nothing to worry about.

Easy to use and maintain - this is the part I really like about the electric cigarette. I actually hated it when people tend to flick their cigarettes around, which dirty the environment. As the society makes most smokers feel guilty about their habits, having an e-cig can change the way people (especially me) feel about this controversial issue.

No more bad odors on clothes or breaths - among other factors and negative effects that non-smokers love to complain about, this is one of the all-time favorite pet peeves. Most people don't really care if you die of lung cancer. Let's be real about this... most people won't tell you that you will die of obesity if you don't stop eating. Instead, what they do is try not to talk about it so it won't hurt your feelings. However, when it comes down to cigarette odors, they don't like it because it affects them directly... that's why cigarettes receive such bad reps.

Cost efficient - I live in New York City, and if you don't know, a regular pack of cigarettes cost almost $10 (at the moment of this post). I used to smoke a pack and a half a day. That would be $450 a month just for cigarettes. With the electronic cigarette brand that I'm using, it only cost half of the price. Yes, half of the price and less of that harmful chemical that will kill me and my friends and family... I wouldn't even think twice.

For all of those people out there that are willing to really quit this bad habit because you hate it, I suggest you would better off doing that. But for those people who actually enjoy smoking, and nobody has the right to tell anybody what to do with their lives, please change the way you smoke. This is the new style of the future - smoke without fire.

Keep the fire burning but stop the smoke from killing.

Read more about electric cigarette stories of the same people that were struggling to get acceptance from public view about their smoking habits. and A healthier option altogether it seems, though the benefits don't end there. Due to the fact that electric cigarettes are not emitting any dangerous substances, toxins or real smoke for that matter, they are perfectly legal to smoke in public.
